Install RedHat 7 on VMware Workstation 11

Here is how to install a Linux Red Hat 7 on VMware workstation 11.
To help you get you started for your RHSCA training or any other projects you might be working on.

First of all you will need to download the RHEL iso file from RedHat's official website.
You can register with a 30 day trial account, which you can also use it to subscribe your server after the installation.

Let's get started:
Create a new VM: File > New Virtual Machine...:

Typical Installation > Next

Select Installer disc image file (iso) and > Browse the path of your rhel.iso that you downloaded > Next

Type a host-name and a username > Next

Type the VMs name > Next

Allocate as much disk space as you like > Next

Click on Customize Hardware

Go to Processors and on the right enable the Virtualize Intel VT-x... > Close.
This option is crucial if you want to use KVM Virtualization within your VM.

On Close the VMware Easy Install will start, which will take care of everything.
After the installation is completed your VM will be rebooted asking you for username and password.

There is one last step worth mentioning which might help some of you.
By default with the Easy Install method the network interface of your newly created VM doesn't start automatically.

You will need to enable it manually.
In the terminal type:
vim /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-enoXXXXXXX (Type your network after ifcfg-...)
and change the value from no to yes:
ONBOOT=yes
